The Conrad Young Musician ofThailand Competition

Bangkok,Thailand,31 March 2007: The Conrad Bangkok in association with the Royal Over-Seas League, were proud to host The Conrad Young Musician of Thailand Competition 2007, competing for The King’s Trophy.  It was the first year of the competition and was successfully organized by the hosts.  

From a total of 76 applicants who sent in their performances on CD, 7 were selected to perform in the Final at the hotel on31 March, 2007.   The Gala Dinner and Performance was attended by honorary guests including Privy Councilors to The King of Thailand, Ambassadors, Professors, Celebrities and the media.  The 4 international high profile judges consisted of:

Mr.Richard Harvey(2nd right) : a prolific composer for Hollywood Films including all the Harry Potter films, The Da Vinci Code, Kingdom of Heaven, The Lion King and many more. He has recorded for and collaborated with Sir Paul McCartney, Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson-Williams, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, John Williams, Stanley Myers and numerous others and has also made several classical albums.

Mr.Chris Craker(1st right) : General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sony BMG Masterworks, USA

Mr.Albert Tiu(1st left) : Assistant Professor in the Young Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and Vice President of the Singapore Music Teachers' Association, Singapore

- Master Panyaphat Wongwechwiwat, Cello, 13 years old

- Mr.Channarong Jantararat, Pano, 16 years old

Ms. Tapalin Charoensuk, a Thai Cellist aged 18, was The Winner who received The King’s Trophy, a cash prize and a trip to London to perform in a concert organized by the Royal Over-Seas League UK.
